Our History
1997
Superintendent Jim Thompson proposes the idea of an education foundation to the GCISD Board of Trustees.
1998
GCEF Founding Board Members
At the time, GCISD was supported by the E.A. Sigler, Jr. Excellence Foundation. Dr. Thompson met with the Sigler Foundation, and they, along with the Board of Trustees, agreed that merging the two foundations would be beneficial.
An Education Foundation Consultant was then brought on board. Together, the E.A. Sigler Jr. Excellence Foundation, GCISD District Leadership, the Board of Trustees, and the consultant collaborated to establish the Grapevine-Colleyville Education Foundation.
The initial funding drive raised $235,000.
2004
Former GCISD Board Trustee Janice Kane was appointed as the Foundation’s first Executive Director.
2018
Sue Franks was appointed the Foundation’s second Education Director.
2021
Jane Richards was appointed the Foundation’s third Education Director.
